About us
Editorial line
Revista Diplomática records diplomatic life in Chile and the work of Chilean missions abroad. This page sets out what we cover, how we work, and the commitments we make to our sources and our readers.
What we cover
Four grounds. The missions accredited in Santiago: national days, receptions, the presentation of credentials, appointments, agreements and cultural events. Chile in the world: the work of Chilean embassies abroad, of the foreign minister and of the Foreign Ministry outside the country. The society of the circuit: the gatherings, the people and the institutions that make it up. And explanation: what diplomatic instruments are and how they affect people who never set foot in an embassy.
What we do not cover
We do not cover Chilean domestic politics or generic world news. An international story with no Chilean angle and no link to the accredited diplomatic corps does not run here. Companies appear when their experience shows how work with another country gets done; we do not publish product promotion: this is a foreign affairs publication, not an advertising vehicle.
Names and titles
In diplomacy an exact name and title are not a matter of style but of institutional respect. We check every name, title and institutional designation against the official source before publishing. When a detail is not in the source, we leave it out. We would rather run a thinner story than one with an invented title.
Sources and quotation
Every article drawn from a statement, an official site or a document links to its original source. We quote brief excerpts naming the source, title and author, in line with the quotation right under Chilean copyright law. We do not reproduce full press releases, nor present other people’s material as our own.
Photography
Images of news events are authentic photographs, credited to their author, agency or to the mission that provides them. We request courtesy photographs with written permission. We do not republish images from social media without a licence, and we do not create or alter photographs of real people, ceremonies or buildings.
Independence
Coverage is not for sale. Institutional partnerships carry no right to review texts before publication or to condition the angle of a story. Where content is contributed or promoted by a third party, we say so.
Corrections
If we publish an error, we correct it visibly and promptly. Write to us and we will look into it.
How we work
Every name, title and figure is checked against the original source before publication, and every article links to the document behind it. The detail is in our editorial standards.
