How we work

Editorial standards

Revista Diplomática records diplomatic life in Chile and the work of Chilean missions abroad. These are the criteria by which it does so.

Verification

Every name, title and institution is checked against the original source before publication. In diplomacy a misspelled title is a discourtesy to the person who holds it and to the country they represent, so that check is neither rushed nor delegated. A fact we could not open at its source is not published.

Sources and quotation

We quote brief passages from official statements and documents, always naming the source, title and author, under the right of quotation in Chilean copyright law. Every article links to the original document, so any reader can go and check it. We do not reproduce statements in full, nor republish third-party photographs without a licence or written permission.

Images

The record of an event is always an authentic photograph, credited to its author, agency or to the mission that provides it. Alongside those pieces we publish editorial context images: a city, a trade, an atmosphere. They are signed as “Editorial image” and do not represent the event or those who took part in it.

Courtesy

We cover with respect for protocol. We do not enter restricted areas, we do not photograph where security asks us not to, and we ask before publishing what a mission shares with us in confidence. Access to diplomatic life rests on discretion.

Corrections

If we find an error, we correct it visibly and promptly. Write to prensa@revistadiplomatica.cl to point out any inaccuracy.
