How we cover a reception

August 9, 2026 · Revista Diplomática

Covering a diplomatic reception is different from covering a party. Here protocol rules and detail decides whether the piece is useful or disposable.

Our method is simple and strict:

  1. Attendance in person. The editor attends with a camera, dressed for the occasion.
  2. Notebook in hand. We write down names and titles on the spot. In diplomacy, misspelling a title breaks the relationship.
  3. Professional gallery. Portraits of the host with authorities, the toast, the groups and the details of the setting.
  4. Fast publishing. The gallery goes live the same night or the next day, tagging the mission.
  5. Courtesy photos. We pass the images to the embassy for its own channels. That closes the cycle and opens the next invitation.

We do not enter sensitive installations nor photograph where security forbids it. Respect for protocol is part of the craft.
